So you can’t go diving because of bad weather. How do you get your diving fix anyway? Here’s a list of dive-related things you can do until the weather clears up.

Take an online diving course or certification program
Since you’re stuck inside anyway, sign up for a new course and work on your eLearning/textbooks. Learning new skills will keep your training fresh! See our COURSES page for choices on continuing education.

Organize diving gear and equipment, clean and maintain them
Might as well use your down time to get your gear checked out and organized. Depending on how much you dive, BCDs and regulators should be serviced every two years (every year if you dive a lot). Having your gear maintained/serviced is also a good excuse for the next item…

Visit your local dive shop to browse new gear or accessories
Don’t be lured in by gadgets, but If you have a need for a new SMB, dive computer or basics like a mask or fins, your local dive center can help. Ok yes you can look at all the new stuff too!

Improve your physical fitness
Swimming (indoors), yoga, cardio or even Pilates can all help strengthen you and maybe even improve your breathing (can you say my tank will last longer?). Check out these SCUBA Fitness videos we shot and posted.

Volunteer for a local beach or underwater cleanup event
Check with your local dive shop or clubs/groups in your area to see if there are any cleanup events you can help out with. Help the environment and keep dive sites clean at the same time!

Plan Future Dive Trips
Most divers we know have a “bucket list” of dive locations they want to go to some day. Sometimes these are local wrecks/reefs and sometimes they are exotic locales around the world. Check with your local dive center to see if they have trips locally or world-wide and do some research on the locale.

Watch a Diving Documentary
There are a few good diving documentaries out there to watch. Search your streaming service or cable service for all of the documentaries available.

Being stuck inside due to bad weather doesn’t mean you can’t do diving activities! Hopefully this list will give you some ideas. If you are interested in doing a new course with eLearning,  call us today at 954.406.0181, or check out the “COURSES” page on our website and sign up with us today!
