Recently Refresher Diver Ryan did his first series of refresher dives off Fort Lauderdale, FL. It’s been a few years since he was diving last, and he’s headed to Galapagos Islands in August.
It was a bit of a choppy day when we headed out aboard “Sea Experience II”. Waves were 3-4ft, but Captain Mateo navigated them skillfully. Shortly after clearing the Port Everglades Inlet, we arrived at our first dive site. We dove the wreck “Hog Heaven” and the old lighthouse tower next to it. Refresher Diver Ryan did very well with his buoyancy and navigation and he enjoyed all the fish.
Dive 2 found us on a shallow reef called “The Caves”. Not a lot of current, so navigation and sightseeing was easy. I had Ryan run through some basic skills to help him remember them. We saw a couple of turtles along with all the usual fish and Ryan enjoyed it immensely.
